Biography Lynn R. Webster, MD, FACPM, FASAM Medical Director, Lifetree Clinical Research and Pain Clinic Lynn R. Webster, MD, FACPM, FASAM, is past president and founding member of the Utah Academy of Pain Medicine. He is co-founder and Medical Director of the Lifetree Clinical Research and Pain Clinic, which directs significant efforts towards developing safer and more effective therapies for chronic pain and addiction. Dr. Webster earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, and completed a residency and fellowship in anesthesiology at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. Dr. Webster is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiologists and a fellow of the American College of Pain Medicine. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Pain Society, American Medical Association, American Neuromodulation Society, American Headache Society, among others. Dr. Webster is dedicated to treating patients in pain while simultaneously working to minimize the potential for abuse and addiction. His clinical research interests include pain and pain mechanisms, substance abuse, addiction, sleep medicine, and cultural and political attitudes toward pain management. His primary focus is the development of novel agents to treat pain that resist abuse or utilize innovative modes of administration. Dr. Webster is the co-founder of LifeSource, a non-profit foundation established in 2006 to educate physicians, patients, and communities on health issues, as well as fund and conduct research that will discover new solutions and hope for improved life. LifeSource developed its first project entitled “Zero Unintentional Deaths,” a campaign designed to educate physicians, chronic pain sufferers and all communities about the increasingly serious issue of unintentional overdose deaths relating to methadone and other prescription medications. His “Zero Unintentional Deaths” campaign took him to local and national communities where he lectured and made media appearances, including on ABC News’ 20/20 and Court TV’s Catherine Crier Live, in support of safe methadone prescribing guidelines. Dr. Webster has authored over 100 scientific abstracts and journal articles, and lectures extensively. He recently published a book entitled Avoiding Opioid Abuse While Managing Pain: A Guide for Practitioners. Faculty Disclosure:
